Karachi: Cyclone Biperjoy has intensified in the Arabian Sea.

According to Meteorological Department, the cyclone has been moving towards the north for the past 12 hours, which is 600 km from the south of Karachi and 580 km from the south of Thatta.

Due to storm, the wind speed in the sea is between 180 to 220 kilometers per hour.

By June 14, the cyclone will move northwards and on the afternoon of June 15, the cyclone will cross southeast Sindh and Indian Gujarat.

By the morning of June 15, the cyclone is likely to make landfall between Kati Bandar and Indian Gujarat.

Met department stated that waves around the center of the system are rising to 35 to 40 feet, while storm surges can reach 8 to 12 feet at Keti Bandar.

It has also been predicted that storm may cause heavy rain along with wind and thunder on the coastal belt. Heavy rain may also occur at some places in South-Eastern Sindh.

Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tharparkar and Umarkot are likely to receive heavy rains from June 13 to 17, with wind speed of 80 to 100 km per hour in these areas.

Apart from this, heavy rain is also expected in Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Al-Hiyar and Mirpurkhas from June 13 to 16.

There is possibility of heavy rain with wind and thunder in Karachi, Hyderabad between June 13 and 16, stated Met Department. During this time, winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour, which can damage fragile buildings, constructions and mud houses.
