As cyclone Biparjoy neared, various coastal areas, including DHA Karachi, remained on high alert until now.

Karachi: Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi is not at risk from the high tides caused by cyclone Biparjoy, as per Sindh Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Sarfraz.
The latest advisory from Pakistan Meteorological Department indicates that the cyclone is currently located approximately 350 kilometers south of Karachi, 360 kilometers south of Thatta, and 300 kilometers southwest of Keti Bandar in the Arabian Sea.
Heavy rains are expected in Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Karachi from June 14 to June 17.
While smaller settlements near the sea, such as Ibrahim Hyderi and Rehri Goth, remain at risk, DHA is deemed safe from the high tides.
Dr. Sarfraz highlighted that water often reaches the roads near Hawkes Bay during the monsoon season as well.
Cyclone Biparjoy is projected to make landfall on Thursday evening, between Mandvi in India's Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan, with maximum sustained wind speeds of 125-135 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 150 kilometers per hour.
The effects of the cyclone are expected to persist until June 17, after which the weather in Karachi will gradually return to normal, accompanied by sea breezes.
