‘It won't be enjoyable’: Chopra highlights significance of Pakistan's presence in Asia Cup
In the proposed format, the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup will consist of two groups, with two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage.

Lahore: Aakash Chopra, a renowned cricket commentator and former Indian cricketer, expressed his relief after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) proposal for a hybrid model for the upcoming Asia Cup in 2023.
The highly anticipated Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from 31st August to 17th September 2023, featuring teams from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal. The tournament will showcase 13 thrilling One Day International (ODI) matches, captivating cricket fans across the region.
In the proposed format, the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup will consist of two groups, with two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage. From there, the top two teams will compete in the final to determine the champion.
This year's Asia Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model, with four matches taking place in Pakistan, while the remaining nine matches will be played in Sri Lanka. This arrangement addresses the concerns surrounding India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
Aakash Chopra, sharing his thoughts on the ACC's decision, expressed that he was not surprised given India's stance. He highlighted the significance of Pakistan's presence in the Asia Cup, stating that the tournament would lack excitement without their participation. Using an analogy, he compared the absence of Pakistan to a pizza without its essential toppings, emphasizing the need for their inclusion.
"It won't be enjoyable. So you want Pakistan to be there in the Asia Cup," Chopra emphasized on his YouTube channel.
The ACC's approval of the hybrid model ensures a thrilling and inclusive Asia Cup 2023, fostering competitive cricketing action among the participating nations. The tournament promises to be a significant event on the cricketing calendar, uniting fans from different countries and showcasing the spirit of the sport.
