Auckland: A man armed with an axe entered three Chinese restaurants on Monday night, leaving four people injured in Auckland, New Zealand.
According to hospital spokespersons from North Shore and Auckland, one victim has been discharged, while three others remain in stable condition as of Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses and local media accounts describe how the attacker entered Zhangliang Malatang, Yues Dumpling Kitchen, and Maya Hotpot, launching random attacks on unsuspecting individuals with his axe around 9 p.m. on Monday night.
One witness, who was dining at Maya Hotpot, recounted that the attacker approached her friend with the axe.
New Zealand Police swiftly took action, apprehending a 24-year-old man believed to be responsible for the attacks.
The suspect is set to appear in court on Tuesday, facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, with additional charges expected to follow, according to police statements.
