The popularity of Sports Utility Vehicles - SUVs is undeniable in Pakistan. SUVs have become the first choice of many car enthusiasts as they offer ample seating and cargo capacity.

Aside from being spacious, SUVs, due to their large and heavier built, are much safer than sedans. Thus, while driving SUVs, people are at psychological ease.
Recently, two entrants in the domestic automobile industry of Pakistan, the MG HS and Proton X70, have grabbed the attention of SUV lovers as both SUVs come with amazing salient features.
MG HS has already marked its 97th anniversary. It is one of the popular British motor brands for their super sports cars that has launched MG HS in Pakistan in collaboration with JW Auto Park.
Proton is a Malaysian automotive company that has recently launched the X70 in Pakistan partnering with Al-Haj Group.
Other than the price, the factor that consumers most think about before buying an SUV is the safety it offers, so we have made a comparison between MG HS and Proton X70 that are offering advanced driver assistance systems.
Airbag Safety
Both MG HS and Proton X70 are equipped with six airbags each, proving that both the brands value airbag safety equally. Both the SUVs feature two front airbags while the remaining 4 airbags surround second row passengers to provide safety against a side collision.

Camera Assistance
Both SUVs offer a 360 camera to assist the driver with a perfect view of the car from all sides. Proton X70 comes with an amazing 5 camera assistance feature while MG HS only bears a rear reverse camera. This makes Proton X70 much easier to drive, reverse and park than MG HS.

Lane Departure Warning
Both SUVs offer Lane Departure Features. The LDF activates and triggers when the driver unintentionally drifts into another lane without indication. The feature will initiate a slight vibration in the steering wheel which will get back the attention of the driver.

Blind Spot Information System BSIS
Both MG HS and Proton X70 offer Blind Spot Information System which triggers the driver and activates the Outside Rear-view Mirror system when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, either rare or side of the car. It highly assists on high-speed roads where drivers sometimes miss the vehicles passing by at a high speed.

Door Operating Warning System (DOW)
Proton X70 features a Door Operating Warning System (DOW) that triggers the passengers when another car is in the zone while opening the door. It is an extremely amazing feature which keeps both the parties safe. The MG HS doesn’t have this feature.
Hill Climb and Descend Assist
Hill climb and descend assist is an amazing feature that activates when the SUV is on an incline. Amazingly, both Proton X70 and MG HS offer this feature.

Autonomous Braking System
Again, both SUVs, Proton x70 and MG HS offer autonomous braking system that bring the vehicle to a standstill position if something comes in front of the car suddenly.

Conclusive Remarks
In a nutshell, both the SUVs give a tough competition to each other in terms of safety but Proton X70 takes the lead when it comes to Door Operating Warning System, parking assistance and the arrangement of cameras installed. Thus, while both Proton X70 and MG HS can be a great choice when it comes to the safest SUVs available in this price range, Proton X70 has a little edge. Already, the Proton SUV has been proved to be one of the safest vehicles among many locally manufactured SUVs. So, it's definitely a great choice for customers looking for SUVs in Pakistan.
