Accused to face physical remand for 30 days under NAB amendment bill
Under the Ordinance, Chairman NAB will be able to issue arrest warrants for non-cooperation in the investigation.
Islamabad: The acting President Sadiq Sanjrani issued the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance 2023 which stated that the arrested accused can be detained on physical remand for 30 days instead of 14.
According to details, the acting President Sadiq Sanjrani signed the NAB Amendment Ordinance following the advice of the Prime Minister.
Under the Ordinance, Chairman NAB will be able to issue arrest warrants for non-cooperation in the investigation.
It has been reported that the proposed amendments have been approved by federal cabinet.
Notable, in order to pave the way for the Presidential Ordinance, a notification was issued to postpone the meeting of the National Assembly for an indefinite period on Monday evening.
Earlier, the Speaker of the National Assembly had adjourned the meeting of on June 26 till July 17.
Presidential Ordinance cannot be issued if the National Assembly session is underway, due to which the session was postponed earlier.
It should be noted that President Dr. Arif Alvi is abroad these days and Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani is the Acting President.
