Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved the verdict on ex-chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s plea seeking details of all FIRs and refraining the Punjab government from further arrests.
A hearing was held in the court of Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq. The ex-CM was represented by Aamir Saeed, and the Punjab government was represented by Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar.
The lawyer told the court that the police were taking Parvez to court in an armoured vehicle and made a request for providing his client with the facility of taking him to court in an ordinary vehicle.
He argued that despite the fact that Parvez Elahi had been given bail, the government was keeping him detained. He asked the court to urge the authorities to stop making arrests for now and to let his client know about any cases before detaining him.
The government's lawyer continued in rejecting the petition and claimed an order from the highest court that stated time cannot be granted prior to arrest.

The government lawyer claimed that no one has requested such relief in the last 75 years and that the Constitution does not allow for this as the judge questioned if he know what the court would rule.
Additionally, he highlighted Justice Athar's comment that the political system has gotten so polluted that courts shouldn't get involved in these cases and that people should handle their own problems.
The amount of cases the government has brought against Parvez Elahi, according to his attorney, is unprecedented in history as well.
The DG of Anti-Corruption, IGP, DG of FIA and other parties in the petition were present in the court.
