Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government's historic initiative of Kisan Card will completely transform the agriculture sector in Pakistan.

While addressing Kisan Card distribution ceremony in Multan on Monday, Imran Khan said that the through this card, farmers will get subsidized fertilizers, seeds and pesticides besides low-interest loans.
“I am confident that this scheme will bring about a revolution in the country by making the life of farmers easy through use of technology, enhancing agricultural production and saving foreign exchange. He said it will also contribute to poverty reduction particularly in rural areas,” he said.
Mentioning that his government is working on several programs to promote agriculture, Imran Khan said that a 300 billion transformation plan has already been announced for the purpose.
“In addition to two major dams, small dams are also being built to ensure better water supply for crops. We have also improved irrigation system in this regard,” he said.
Imran Khan further stated that agriculture has been made part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project for promoting agricultural production through use of Chinese technology.
Prime Minister said that there are several plans and agendas on card to increase production of various agricultural products, including wheat, pulses, fruits, rice, corn, vegetables and fisheries.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that, under this program, farmers can buy seed, fertilizers and pesticides from the registered dealers on reasonable rates.
“Farmers can also avail low-interest loans easily and their crops would also be insured using this card. Subsidy is also being provided on agricultural machinery and solar system. 30,000 service centers have been established across the province where farmers will be facilitated for getting Kisan Card,” he said.
