Islamabad: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday stated that the decision on the dissolution of the National Assembly had yet to be made.

Aurangzeb clarified on Twitter that no date has yet been set for the NA's dissolution. According to Aurangzeb, the date of the NA's dissolution will be decided after consulting with the coalition parties.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) were reportedly in agreement to dissolve the National Assembly on August 8 in order to establish a caretaker government to run the country's affairs.

According to reports, the general election would take place 90 days after the National Assembly was dissolved. The President, Dr. Arif Alvi, would get a summary in that regard.

As per reports, the assembly would automatically be dissolved within 48 hours if the president did not sign the report.

Legal czars had also recommended that the National Assembly be dissolved on August 8. On August 12 at 12 a.m., the assembly's constitutional term will come to an end.
