The appointment of Tarar has been announced by the Establishment Division.

Islamabad: The federal government appointed Shahid Ashraf Tarar as new Chairman of Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) on Wednesday.
Former Pakistan Administrative Service officer Shahid Ashraf Tarar holds the rank of 22. Since January 18, 2021, he has been a member of the Federal Public Service Commission.
The post of the FPSC chairman has been vacant since the retirement of former FPSC chairman Capt (r) Zahid Saeed on December 15, 2022.
Due to the non-appointment of the chairman, important matters including the Central Selection Board meeting have been pending for the last seven months.
The appointment of Tarar has been announced by the Establishment Division.
It is to be noted here that the FPSC is a body that recruits officers to run the administrative affairs of the federal government.
