Govt to impose Rs35 for TV, Rs15 for radio fee in electricity bills
The bill of three-phase meter peak hours to the consumers is now Rs50 per unit instead of Rs34.

Islamabad: Government has decided to include Rs35 for TV fee along with Rs15 for radio fee in electricity bills.
According to details, a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance was held under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala, in which the officials of the Ministry of Finance said that the electricity bills will include TV and radio fees.
Finance ministry told that Rs35 for TV and Rs15 radio fee will be levied in the electricity bill, which was recommended by the Senate committee which has been worked on.
Officials said that the issue of privatization of institutions is a matter of policy, recommending privatization of loss-making institutions for which the Finance Ministry received 55 recommendations from the Finance Committee.
Notably, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the basic tariff of electricity by Rs4.96 per unit in full compliance with the terms of the agreement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and new prices on electricity consumers. It will be applicable from July 1.
On the other hand, the duration of electricity peak hours has been increased by two hours and now it has been decided to fix the peak hours from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm instead of 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The bill of three-phase meter peak hours to the consumers is now Rs50 per unit instead of Rs34.
