Islamabad: PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and party’s former general secretary Asad Umar on Monday presented before the FIA for the investigation of cipher and audio leaks.
Both leaders provided statements in terrorism proceedings brought against them by the FIA's anti-terrorism wing.
After appearing, Qureshi spoke with the reporters and claimed that the inquiry took two hours. He also added that he had responded to all inquiries. He continued, "PTI Chief has also been summoned and will appear tomorrow."
He continued by stating that cipher was a fact and that those who were accountable presented conflicting accounts. The military and civil leadership concurred, he continued.
He added that two national security sessions had been held and that Shehbaz Sharif, the current prime minister, had attended one of them. "Both sessions acknowledged cipher," he continued.
A joint inquiry team of the FIA made up of eight senior officers from intelligence organizations is looking into the cipher matter.
