Karachi experienced a surge of Rs8 per Kg in sugar prices, resulting in an Rs800 increase in the value of a 100-kilogram.


Karachi: Sugar prices in the wholesale market have surged once again, with the cost of sugar reaching Rs155 per kilogram in regular retail shops.
Within two days, the price of a 100-kilogram bag of sugar has increased by Rs800 in the wholesale market, while in local markets, the cost per kilogram has risen by Rs8, now standing at Rs143 in the wholesale market and Rs155 in regular shops.
Karachi witnessed an additional increase of Rs8 per kilogram in sugar prices, leading to the 100-kilogram bag's value rising by Rs800 in the wholesale market within a short span.
According to traders, sugar is being sold at Rs143 per kilogram in the wholesale market and Rs155 per kilogram in regular retail shops.
Shopkeepers in the market area of Jodia Bazaar claim that the price hike is being influenced by hoarders and the sugar mafia, while the government's control is not visible.
