National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) head Asad Umar on Friday told that the number of critical COVID patients on oxygen has increased by 57% as compared to June 2020.

Taking to Twitter, Federal Minister for Planning and Development while giving the details about the current status of critical care COVID patients said that the number of serious patients has touched a figure of 5,360 that is 57% more as compared to last year in June.
Total number of critical care covid patients on oxygen reached 5360 yesterday. This is 57% more than the peak last june. Alhamdulillah have so far managed to cope with this huge increase because of proactively building capacity of the entire system from oxygen production to beds

Asad Umar further explained that despite the huge increase in the number of coronavirus patients on Oxygen, the situation has been proactively managed by increasing oxygen production in Pakistan.
“Total oxygen production operational capacity in Pakistan last year was 487 tons/day. It has been increased to 798 tons. Oxygen production has gone up from 465 tons/day last June to 725 tons currently. We also imported 19,200 oxygen cylinders last year to ensure distribution” he added.
The Federal Minister added that the government is continuing to build capacity to ensure a considerable oxygen supply.
The NCOC head further said that the challenge is not yet over and “we have to follow strict standard operating procedures.”
However, the challenge is not over and Infact is continuing to increase. The need for precautions and following sop's is vital at this point in time. Next few weeks are critical. No system can cope if we allow the disease to spread rapidly. May Allah be with us and protect us
