Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday expressed Pakistan's resolve to contribute towards mitigating ills done by the climate change and urged the global community to play its part in this regard.
Speaking at the launching of the Monsoon Tree Plantation drive in Islamabad on Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister said Allah Almighty has arranged a dispensation of the entire eco system and any intervention in it including pollution is a crime and sin.
He said disturbing natural habitat leads to natural catastrophes like floods, Tsunami, and earthquakes.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said it is high time for us to take climate change as a national cause.
He urged all the political parties, civil society and intelligentsia to join hands in making climate change as an integral part of every discourse.
He said this should also be reflected from every gesture of all the government and state institutions.
The Prime Minister said despite the fact that Pakistan's share in global emission of greenhouse gases is less than one percent, the country has been most affected by impacts of climate change.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said pollution and other factors affecting the environment create negative effects, which sometimes result in floods, earthquakes or other natural disasters.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing regarding plantation campaign.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar was informed that this year, a total of eleven million saplings will be planted across the country under Monsoon Plantation Campaign.
