PIA decides legal action against protesting employees

Karachi: The management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Friday opted to pursue legal action against the workers who are protesting the national flag carrier's privatization and asking for pay increases.

The Pakistan Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1952, which was implemented in May, will allegedly be violated, according to sources, who also stated that failure to complete jobs diligently will be considered as a crime.
Furthermore, employees were prohibited from assembling large gatherings, organizing protests, or holding sit-ins under the Essential Services Act.
Earlier, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) ticket booking offices will remain closed for two hours against privatization.
