Global concern grows as Amnesty International addresses Indian oppression in Occupied Kashmir.

London: Amnesty International has demanded the Indian government to halt human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir.
Raising special concern over atrocities in occupied Kashmir, Amnesty International has reached out to G20 nations through a special communiqué.
The letter emphasizes that journalists are being detained unlawfully and human rights defenders are being apprehended amid the pressurizing situation in occupied Kashmir.
The G20 nations are urged to engage with the Indian government on human rights matters.
Amnesty International calls upon India to uphold global principles, as its policies in occupied Kashmir involve gross violations.
The region witnesses curbs on freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, and the series of targeting human rights defenders must cease.
The letter stresses permitting global human rights entities to visit occupied Kashmir and for India to exert efforts toward the release of Khurram Parvez and Irfan Miraj.
Notably, human rights defender Khurram Parvez was placed under unlawful detention in November 2021.
Amid a rising wave of violence against minorities, the organization highlights the recent arrest of journalist Irfan Miraj, and the escalating violence against Muslims, Sikhs, and Dalits in India.
Attacks on churches and destruction of worship places, such as in Neelum Valley, have also been noted.
Amnesty International points out that Indian Muslims, Sikhs, and Dalits continue to be targeted by extremist elements.
As Pakistan's efforts amplify, the issue of Kashmir gains prominence on the global stage.
