London: The United Kingdom's air traffic control system on Monday encountered a significant network failure on one of the busiest travel days of the year, causing widespread chaos for countless vacationers, with potential disruptions extending for days.
The National Air Traffic Services (NATS) of Britain reported experiencing "technical issues," compelling air traffic controllers to implement reduced rates for aircraft takeoffs and landings.
As a direct result, numerous flights, both incoming and outgoing from the UK, have been subject to extensive delays. Individuals returning from Tenerife have recounted being informed of potential wait times exceeding 12 hours.

In an official statement, NATS clarified, “We are continuing to work diligently to resolve the technical issue. To clarify, UK airspace remains open; however, air traffic flow restrictions have been enacted to ensure the preservation of safety,”.
Simultaneously, AirNav Ireland, the air traffic controller for the country, stated, “NATS is currently grappling with a technical problem that is curtailing the capacity of UK airspace. Consequently, substantial delays are being witnessed for flights across Europe that traverse to, from, or through the UK airspace,”.
As the situation unfolds, there remains uncertainty regarding when flights will return to their schedules. Passengers slated to travel today are strongly advised to contact their respective airlines for updates on potential delays.
