Govt plans to provide relief to electricity consumers with 400 units
Apart from this, an action plan is also being prepared to prevent electricity theft.
Islamabad: The Ministry of Finance has prepared an emergency plan to provide relief to users consuming up to 400 units of electricity, reportedly.
Reports indicated that Ministry of Finance said that plan for relief in electricity bills has been prepared on an emergency basis and efforts are being made by the caretaker government to provide relief of Rs250 billion in electricity bills.
It is also reported that caretaker finance minister has requested the International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials for relief in electricity bills and has submitted a proposal to IMF to facilitate the payment of electricity bills, in which every consumer can pay electricity bills in installments.
A relief plan has been prepared by the Ministry of Finance for consumers of 400 units of electricity. If the IMF agrees, the agreement can be implemented for 02 months.
It is reported that finance ministry will give a written guarantee to take the bill in installments for August and September. It is being considered to withdraw the increase of Rs7 in the basic tariff and do it in a phased manner, i.e. the basic units of electricity should be increased in a phased manner.
Apart from this, an action plan is also being prepared to prevent electricity theft.
