JI leaders booked for lodging protest against inflated electricity bills
Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have been charged of damaging public property, forced closure of stores, obstructing roadways and interfering in official duty in the case.
Peshawar: The police has filed case against Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders for protesting against increase in electricity prices on Sunday.
JI Peshawar leaders Bahrullah, Khalid, Zahir Shah, Tahir Zareen, Haji Qadeer and others have been nominated in the case.
Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have been charged of damaging public property, forced closure of stores, obstructing roadways and interfering in official duty in the case.
The party has called for a Saturday nationwide "shut-down" strike to express opposition to inflation and skyrocketing electricity prices.
Following the strike, a party official stated that the JI will discuss its next course of action at a meeting on Sunday (today) at Mnsoora, Lahore.
The party will step up its movement against inflated power bills and price hike, according to the spokesman.
According to the spokesman, JI Ameer will hold a news conference today to reveal the direction and timing of the protest movement.
