Pak, China to establish ‘Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences’
The center will play a crucial role in connecting Chinese and Pakistani enterprises and institutions, serving as a catalyst for investment and technology exchanges.
Islamabad: Pakistan and China are set to establish a joint research center focused on Earth sciences and scientific exchanges, with plans for its inauguration in Islamabad.
This project, known as the "China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences," seeks to provide a top-tier platform for technical and scientific innovation, boosting cooperation and talent development between the two countries.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and organizations like the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (CAS) and Quaid-i-Azam University in Pakistan all worked together to establish the center.
Several CAS-affiliated institutes and Chinese research organizations, as well as Pakistani universities like the University of Peshawar, are also part of this venture.
The center's major focus will be on collaborative research in four important areas: resource management, environmental sustainability, and green development; geological structures and tectonic activity; climate change and its environmental implications; and geological structures and tectonic activity.
Additionally, the center will play a crucial role in connecting Chinese and Pakistani enterprises and institutions, serving as a catalyst for investment and technology exchanges.
The long-term goal of this effort is to include neighboring countries in its control, as well as to provide human resources and technical expertise to support initiatives like the Belt and Road effort and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
