Officials have confirmed the death toll of 26 people, mostly women and children.


Abuja: 26 people have died and many are missing after a passenger boat overturned in an artificial lake in the north-central region of Nigeria.
According to foreign media, the tragic incident happened on Sunday is the second major boat capsizing incident in the last three months.
According to officials, more than 100 people, including women and children, were on board the boat. The passengers were going to their agricultural lands by boat on the artificial lake.
Officials have confirmed the death toll of 26 people, mostly women and children.
Authorities told that 30 passengers on board the accident boat have been rescued while the rescue operation is going on to search for other missing persons.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in July, more than 100 people were killed in the boat sinking incident.
