Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Friday accepted the bail appeal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the judicial complex vandalism case.

According to details, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's bail plea in the judicial complex vandalism case was heard in the ATC court in which prosecutor Raja Naveed, Parvez Elahi's lawyers Babar Awan and Sardar Abdul Razaq appeared in the court of ATC judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain.

The prosecutor Raja Naveed took the position that record of the case against Parvez Elahi will reach after a while, on which Judge Abul Hasnat remarked that this is not the right way, the court hours have started and the record has not reached.

Lawyer Sardar Abdul Raziq said: “Parvez Elahi's name was added after 06 months of First Information Report (FIR) registration, the bails of named accused Asad Umar, Chairman PTI Imran Khan and others have been approved, therefore Elahi should also be granted bail”.

The prosecution opposed PTI president’s bail plea in the judicial complex vandalism case saying that provisions under which the FIR was registered are non-bailable. Prosecutor Raja Naveed said Parvez Elahi was arrested on the basis of prior information.

Lawyer Babar Awan added that Parvez Elahi was not named in the FIR, nothing was recovered from Parvez Elahi on three-day physical remand. Whereas, his arrest was based on suspicion.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, writing the verdict in open court, said Parvez Elahi is not named in the judicial complex vandalism case, nothing was recovered from him even during the three-day physical remand, so his bail is granted.

The judge of ATC granted Parvez Elahi's bail application and ordered him to submit a bond of Rs20,000.
