Lahore: Home Department Punjab issued a formal notification stating that those involved in Jinnah House attack and arson will be tried in jail.

According to the announcement, the trial of the accused involved in Jinnah House attack, Askari Tower, Shadman police station on May 9 cases will also be held in the jail.

Special Prosecutor Syed Farhad Ali Shah said that the trial of Jinnah House arson will be conducted in jail for which the challan has been submitted to the court. The trial of the Jinnah House case will be completed in one to one and a half months.

It is pertinent to note that a case has been registered under 20 sections including 302 and 109 in the First Information Report (FIR) against the leadership and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) in Lahore. These include non-bailable anti-terrorism provisions.

According to the text of the FIR, earlier on May 9, around 1500 PTI workers started a violent protest towards the Corps Commander House Lahore. The text stated that these workers were armed and apart from weapons, they also had batons and petrol bombs while they were setting fires on the road and also attacked the policemen.

The FIR also said that workers in the angry crowd were saying that our leadership including Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Musarat Jamshed Cheema, Jamshed Cheema, Zubair Niazi, Asad Zaman, Murad Saeed, Ali Amin Gandapur and others have ordered us to make the offices and important buildings of the government especially the military institutions a sign of example.
