London: In what is being perceived as a step that might melt the ice between Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shehbaz Sharif called Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to wish him a happy Eid.

The President of the PML-N called the Chairman of the PPP to pass on facilitations on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In turn, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asked Shehbaz Sharif to extend his greetings to his son, Hamza Shehbaz too.
Since his release from jail, Shehbaz Sharif has been on what political analysts have assessed as a mission to break the ice on the frosty relations between the two opposition parties. The Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament first thanked Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in a tweet, in stark contrast to the recent behaviour displayed by other PML-N leaders.
PPP and PML-N have been at odds after the two parties disagreed on the post of leader of opposition in senate. PML-N accused PPP of striking a deal with the establishment after the latter secured victory with BAP votes.
Matters became worse after PPP resigned from the democratic alliance of Pakistan Democratic Movement, following a showcause notice issued by PML-N and JUI-F supremo, Fazlur Rehman. In April, PML-N accused PPP of rigging elections in Karachi, after the former was defeated in NA-249 by-election by the latter.
