Hearing of case against civilians’ trial in military courts today
Earlier, the last hearing of the trial of civilians in the military courts was held on August 03.
Islamabad: The Supreme Court Monday will hear the case against the trial of civilians in military courts.
According to details, a five-member larger bench headed by Supreme Court Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan will conduct the hearing. Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha Malik will also be the part of the bench.
Earlier, the last hearing of the trial of civilians in the military courts was held on August 03.
The last hearing of the trial of the civilians in the military courts was conducted by a six-member bench headed by former Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial.
At the last hearing, the Attorney General had assured the Supreme Court that the trial would not start without informing the court. The assurance of Attorney General was included by the Supreme Court in the written order of the hearing on August 03.
The federal government has submitted a report to the Supreme Court on the commencement of trials of civilians in military courts, while nine accused have filed written petitions.
The brother of the accused Yasir Nawaz requested the Supreme Court to suspend the trial of the military courts.
It is pertinent to note that the trial of civilians has started in the military courts related to the May 9 tragedy and the federal government has informed the Supreme Court in this regard.
