The private electricity distribution company K-electric receives the highest subsidy in Karachi.


Karachi: Private electricity distribution company K-Electric has been revealed to receive a higher subsidy in Karachi compared to government-owned electricity distribution companies.
Secretary of the Power Division, Rashid Langriyal, recently made a statement regarding the subsidies provided to various distribution companies, emphasizing that the government provides less subsidy to all other electricity companies combined in comparison to K Electric.
According to Rashid Langryal, K Electric receives a substantial subsidy of Rs169 billion, whereas the other seven distribution companies collectively receive Rs 158 billion in federal subsidies.
Langriyal further pointed out that three electricity distribution companies do not receive any subsidy from the federal government.
The breakdown of federal subsidies for various distribution companies is as follows: MAPCO receives Rs43 billion, GAPCO Rs18 billion, HESCO Rs35 billion, PESCO Rs18 billion, Tesco Rs9 billion, Sepco Rs13 billion, and CASCO Rs22 billion.
Additionally, Langriyal mentioned that ISCO, LESCO, and FESCO are among the distribution companies that do not benefit from federal subsidies.
