Pakistan: COVID-19 death toll nears 20,000 with 135 new fatalities
Islamabad: Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,566 cases of coronavirus were reported while 135 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 19,752.
The total number of cases has reached 882,928.
As many as 795, 511 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,361 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 328,775 in the province with 9,500 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 299,913 in the province, while the death toll has reached 4,824.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 127,224 in the province with 3,804 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 23,931 confirmed cases while 267 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 18,286 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 517. On the other hand, there are 5,428 cases in GB with 107 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 79,371 cases in the capital city while 733 people have lost their lives.
