The declaration stated that the committee will introduce artificial intelligence in the judicial system and research.


Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa established a committee to bring innovation in the judicial system of Pakistan.
According to details, the CJP formed the National Judicial Automation Committee (NJAC) under the chairmanship of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, which includes judges of the High Courts and the Federal Shariat Court in addition to Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
According to the announcement of Supreme Court, the National Judicial Automation Committee will formulate a national plan on innovation in the judicial system including artificial intelligence. It will bring digital innovation in the judicial system and create a mobile app for the procedure of cases with the improvement of justice.
The declaration stated that the committee will introduce artificial intelligence in the judicial system and research.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah believes that the judiciary should adopt innovation in technology, he said in this regard: “The world has moved towards technology from the industrial revolution. It is high time that Pakistan's judicial system should be exposed to modern technology and training programs”.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar stated in this regard that the digitization of the judicial sector is the beginning of the change that he envision in the legal system. ‘I believe in enhancing digital capabilities and improving access to justice over time’. We are committed to ensuring a transparent and effective legal process for the country, he added.
In the declaration of the Supreme Court, it has been stated that Justice Mansoor started a resource center and a specific automation project during his tenure at the Lahore High Court (LHC). A case flow management system was created in LHC from the system introduced by Justice Mansoor. While Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar took measures to equip the Sindh High Court (SHC) with IT.
According to the announcement, the NJAC is a sub-committee of the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee. The Chairman of NJAC is CJP whose secretariat is in the Law and Justice Commission.
