India restores e-Visa for Canadians
India suspended the e-Visa service for Canadian citizens following allegations by the Canadian government over the murder of Hardeep Singh Nagar.
Mumbai: Indian government has restored e-Visa service for Canadian citizens after two months.
According to the Indian media, the Indian government has restored the e-Visa service after two months, which was suspended as a result of the tension created after the Hardeep Singh murder case.
Earlier on September 21, India suspended the e-Visa service for Canadian citizens following allegations by the Canadian government over the murder of Khalistan Movement leader Hardeep Singh Nagar.
According to Indian media, the government has restored all visa services for Canadian citizens since last month, including tourism, services, business and medical visas.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in June 2023, the leader of the Khalistan Movement, Hardeep Singh, was killed in Canada, after which the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau accused India that it was involved in the murder of Hardeep Singh, while Canada has accused the Indian agency of 'RA' and deported its official from the country.
Following diplomatic tensions between the two countries, senior diplomats were also ordered to leave the country while both countries issued travel advisories for their citizens.
