The DC orders said that Shah Mehmood has been named in the May 9 cases and he needs to be investigated.


Rawalpindi: The Deputy Commissioner Tuesday issued detention orders for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
According to media reports, the orders for the detention of Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood were issued by the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, which was issued following the recommendation of Rawalpindi Police Chief.
The DC orders said that the former foreign minister Shah Mehmood has been named in the May 9 cases and he needs to be investigated, hence his detention orders are issued.
It has also been reported that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is likely to be detained in Adiala Jail.
Notably, the bail of Imran Khan's co-accused Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the cypher case was approved by the Supreme Court.
Talking to media, Shah Mahmood Qureshi's lawyer Taimur Malik said that the three-member bench of the Supreme Court has approved the bail of Shah Mahmood's bail and the certified copy of the Apex Court's order has been received. They have also submitted the documents to the court.
Barrister Taimur Malik stated: “We asked the court to issue Shah Mehmood's arrest warrant, now we have come to know that the judge has gone to Islamabad. Today if the arrest warrant is not issued, we will approach the Supreme Court again”.
