Karachi: After the shortage of several medicines including Panadol and ibuprofen in Karachi, fake medicines are also being sold in the market.
According to the details, people are facing difficulty in getting Ventolin Inhaler, Cubyron TSR, Panadol and ibuprofen which led to the entry of fake medicines in the markets of Karachi.
A female citizen said that people have to buy black even if they get the original medicines. The pharmacists drive them away saying that they do not have the medicine, a neighbor bought the fake drug which led to the death of the child.
Apart from this, during the acute shortage of medicines in Karachi, medicines for heart diseases are also being sold at double black prices.
Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association Chairman Mian Khalid Misbah-ur-Rehman said that the main reason for the shortage of medicines is that 95% of the raw materials are bought in dollars.
If they buy expensive raw materials, for how long will they be able to manufacture the medicines. If the government cannot follow the policy, then they should end it, he added.
