Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to provide electric bikes to students at low cost to control environmental pollution.
According to the details, the Punjab government has decided to introduce electric bikes after the electric rickshaws, which will be provided to the students at a low cost initially.
Talking in an interview, Caretaker Transport Minister Punjab Ibrahim Hassan Murad said that there is a big problem of smog in Punjab which is mainly caused by the transport most notably rickshaws and motorcycles.
In order to overcome this problem, in the past we have introduced electric rickshaws of China and Thailand style and now we are going to introduce electric bikes as well, stated the minister.
He added that our effort is to implement the system of EV charging in the entire Punjab. Apart from this, one to two hundred thousand electric bikes will be provided to the students at an affordable price in the first phase.
