Lahore: The year 2023 has come to an end and the New Year 2024 has begun today (Monday).
At 12 midnight fireworks and celebrations were observed across the country with the beginning of the New Year. Different cities began the year 2024 with aerial firing and firecrackers.
Aerial firing was done in areas of Saddar, Lyari, Garden, Sachal, Korangi, Orangi, Site, Sarjani, Malir Quaidabad, Gulistan-e-Johar, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Baldia, Kemari.
Aerial firing and fireworks were also displayed in Sohrab Goth, Federal B Area and Clifton.
A large number of citizens reached the beach to celebrate the New Year.
On the other hand, a large number of people welcomed the New Year at Liberty Chowk in Lahore. Many tourists also celebrated the New Year in Murree.
Apart from this, people of Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and other cities also celebrated the New Year.
It is pertinent to note that Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had announced a ban on New Year celebrations to express solidarity with the Palestinians and appealed to the people to welcome the New Year with simplicity.
