Both Hammad Azhar and Sanam Javed have challenged the decision of the election tribunal before the appellate tribunal.
Lahore: An Appellate Tribunal on Sunday rejected the appeals of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar and social activist Sanam Javed challenging the dismissal of their nomination papers.
Chaired by Justice Tariq Nadeem, the tribunal upheld the objections raised by the Returning Officer (RO) regarding Azhar's eligibility to contest the election from NA-129.
Besides it, the tribunal dismissed Sanam's appeal against the rejection of her papers. Sanam Javed had filed a plea contesting the dismissal of her nomination papers for National Assembly constituencies NA-119 and NA-120, as well as Punjab Assembly constituency PP-150.
Justice Nadeem affirmed the RO's decision to reject Sanam's nomination papers while adjudicating the case. Sanam submitted her papers from jail with the intention of contesting the election against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz.
