Islamabad: The Federal Ministry of Commerce has decided to provide industries with power at the rate of 09 cents per unit, reportedly.
According to the media reports, the Federal Ministry of Commerce said that the summary of giving 09 cents per unit of electricity to industries is being sent to the Cabinet.
It is also reported that the Ministry of Commerce states that it has also been approved by Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), with the aim of giving a level playing field to local industries.
The Federal Ministry of Commerce added that no industry can compete with the world's industries at 16 cents per unit power, reportedly.
Federal Ministry of Commerce also added that it is hoped that the approval will be given in a day or two.
In this regard, the Caretaker Federal Minister of Commerce Dr. Gohar Ijaz said that exports can be increased only by making electricity cheaper. It is hoped that the cabinet will approve it this week.
