Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa of Supreme Court Monday indicated that the hearing of the case related to the murder of famous journalist Arshad Sharif will be scheduled soon.
According to the details, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the suo motu case on harassment of journalists, during which Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan also appeared.
During the hearing, the well-known journalist Matiullah Jan requested that Arshad Sharif's murder be set as a motive, to which the Chief Justice remarked that Arshad Sharif's case may be included in the next hearing.
The Chief Justice remarked that he did not want to give any order that contradicted the orders issued in the Arshad Sharif case.
It is pertinent to note that the Chief Justice has ordered the immediate withdrawal of notices sent to journalists by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The Chief Justice ordered that notices issued to the journalists should be immediately withdrawn due to criticism and directed the Attorney General that abusive language is a different matter, action should not be taken only on the basis of criticism.
