US says, people of Pakistan will decide their leadership

Washington DC: US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel said that the decision of the Pakistani leadership is to be made by the Pakistani people, ‘Our interest is in the democratic process’.
Reacting to the election process in Pakistan, Vedant Patel stated that he condemned the violent incidents during the election. “We are concerned about restrictions on freedom of expression. There is also concern over the shutdown of internet and telephone on polling day”.
On the other hand, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that they are closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan. The politicians should remain calm during the counting of votes. There is concern over the internet and phone outages in Pakistan.
Antonio Guterres added that all the candidates should avoid any action that could increase tension. Political leaders seek to resolve disputes through legal means, hoping for the strengthening of democracy in Pakistan.
