Lahore: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan took oath of office on Friday.

The swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Justice of LHC was held at the Governor House Punjab, where Baligh-ur-Rehman administered the oath to the Chief JusticeMalik Shahzad Ahmad Khan.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also participated in the swearing-in ceremony.

Supreme Court Justice (retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramde, Justice (retd) Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary, LHC Justice Ali Baqir Najafi, Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan, Justice Aalia Neelam also participated in the ceremony.

It is pertinent to note that the President of the State approved the appointment of Justice Malik Shehzad as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

Who is Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed?

Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan, who issued several historic decisions, is considered one of the most powerful and courageous judges in the judiciary of Pakistan. He gave decisions fearlessly according to the constitution and law.

Justice Malik Shahzad was born on March 15, 1963 in Pindi Gheap District, Attock, he graduated from Gordon College Rawalpindi, then obtained LLB degree from University Law College, Punjab University Lahore in 1989 and in 1990 started practicing law from Rawalpindi. He became an advocate of High Court in 1993 and Supreme Court in 2004.

He practiced as a lawyer for 21 years and fought a large number of cases, in 2004 he was elected the Secretary General of the High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi and in 2009 he was elected the President of the High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi.

The new Chief Justice of LHC became an Additional Judge in the High Court on May 12, 2011 and was confirmed on May 11, 2013. He will retire as Chief Justice on March 15, 2025, thus remaining in the post of Chief Justice for 12 months and six days.
