Peshawar: Polio virus has been confirmed in the environmental samples of different areas of Peshawar.
According to the health department, polio virus is present in Narekhor, Shaheen Town and Tajabad. The reason for the presence of the virus is the movement of people from different areas to Peshawar.
The health department stated that a five-day anti-polio campaign has been started in Chitral, Dir Upper and Dir Lower, in which more than 300,000 children will be vaccinated against polio.
It is pertinent to note that no cases of polio have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year. However, last year four cases were reported in the province.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Qasim Ali Shah said that parents who do not give anti-polio vaccine to their children, their national identity cards will be blocked.
