Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Saturday issued a written decision to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and others to participate in the by-election. In the decision it said that the courts are the guardians of democracy and fundamental rights.
According to the details, a two-judge bench issued a nine-page judgment on the appeal.
In the written decision, it was said that the appellant could not prove the objections against Parvez Elahi and others. The appellant could not state the correct facts, on the basis of which the decision was declared null and void.
According to the decision, Parvez Elahi's lawyer said, such objections were raised in the general election as well, the Supreme Court allowed Parvez Elahi to contest the general election.
The Lahore High Court said in a written decision that Parvez Elahi is in jail, the records of all properties have been provided as per the law.
