Toronto: The Canadian police have arrested six people in the case of stealing 20.1 million Canadian dollars’ worth of gold and 2.7 million Canadian dollars from a busy airport in the country and recovered a large number of weapons.

A year ago, 6,600 gold bars with a total value of over 20 million Canadian dollars were stolen from the cargo lounge at Toronto's Pearson Airport. It included $20 million worth of pure gold and two and a half million dollars’ worth of foreign currency notes. This robbery was done in the style of Netflix's famous web series 'Gold Heist'.

The US authorities also supported the Canadian authorities in the investigation and operations related to this incident. One person was arrested in America and three warrants covering both countries were issued after 19 charges were laid.

According to Toronto local police, the suspects include a former and current employee of an airline.

The gold thieves gained access to the gold consignment by showing a voucher used to purchase seafood the day before. Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Dorepa said that the incident was done purely in a filmy way, just like we used to joke with each other.

The accused include Prampal Sidhu, Simran Preet, King Michelin, Prasad Pramalingam, Amit Jalota, Imad Chaudhry, Ali Raza, Archit Grover and Arsalan Chaudhry. Apart from this, it also includes those who buy stolen gold.
