Nawaz elected as PML-N President after six years
The papers for Nawaz Sharif's party president were approved and he was elected as the president of PML-N unopposed
Lahore: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday elected as the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) again after six years.
After the resignation of the former president of PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif, an election was held to elect a new president, in which eight nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif were submitted for the post of party president from four provinces.
Nawaz Sharif's nomination papers were also submitted from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad. PML-N President Bashir Memon from Sindh, Amir Makam from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sardar Yaqub from Balochistan submitted their nomination papers.
The time for submission of nomination papers for the party president candidate was from 10:00am to 12:00pm, which were scrutinized till 2:00am.
Party Chief Election Commissioner Rana Sanaullah called the recommenders and endorsers to check the papers of Nawaz Sharif.
Later, the papers for Nawaz Sharif's party president were approved and he was elected as the president of PML-N unopposed.
