Islamabad: The federal government Wednesday decided to end the current net metering system.
The government has decided to set up a 600 MW solar power plant with investors from Saudi Arabia, which will be set up on an intergovernmental basis without the bidding of Saudi Arabia.
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to send a summary of these decisions.
He also directed to prepare two separate rates for purchase and sale of solar power.
The government has decided to impose monthly fixed charges on consumers installing solar systems, amend the net metering regulation and introduce a separate tariff category.
