Imran Riaz acquitted from interference in state property case

Lahore: The Cantonment Kachheri of Lahore Friday discharged YouTuber, journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan from the case of interference in the state property.

According to the details, police produced journalist Imran Riaz in court for physical remand.

The police took the stand that the accused was arrested yesterday after being named in the First Information Report (FIR), other accused are to be arrested on the identification of the accused, therefore, 10-day physical remand of the accused should be granted.

Imran Riaz's lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq opposed the police request for physical remand, saying that the case registered against Imran is false and baseless.

The Judicial Magistrate reserved the decision on the remand of the journalist. Later, while delivering the verdict, the anchor person was ordered to be discharged from the case.

The judicial magistrate in the issued order wrote that the nature of the offense recorded in the FIR and the nature of the remand paper is bailable, therefore physical remand cannot be granted per law, and the request of the investigating officer for physical remand is rejected.

According to the order, it is noted that there is insufficient evidence against the accused. Hence Imran Riaz is discharged from the case. The investigating officer is directed to release the accused if he is not wanted in any other case.

It is pertinent to note that yesterday Model Town Court of Lahore dismissed the case of breach of trust against YouTuber and anchorperson Imran Riaz while the police arrested him again in another case.

A day before this, Lahore's Model Town court granted a one-day physical remand against anchor person Imran in the case of breach of trust.

According to the details, the police had sought physical remand of Imran Riaz for seven days. During the hearing, Imran's lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq informed the court that a false case has been made against him, the plaintiff is an agent of Maryam Nawaz's polling stations.

A case was registered against Khan in the complaint of Rahman Property Dealer under section 406 for breach of trust.

Earlier on June 12, YouTuber and anchor was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

Lawyer Imran Riaz Advocate Azhar Siddique confirmed that he was arrested at the airport in Ihram.

He stated that the unknown persons who were accompanied by the police arrested him.

Azhar Siddique Advocate added that there was a scuffle at the airport, and Imran Riaz is on bail in all cases.
