Rain: Pleasant weather in Lahore, other cities of Punjab
After heavy rains, roads started to look like rivers and canals
Lahore: In various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, there was light and heavy rain in some places which interrupted the heat wave.
After the early morning rain in the provincial capital, Lahore, the faces of the citizens withered from the heat, opened up with joy. Clouds rained in Abbott Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shalimar, Garhi Shahu, Mall Road, Canal Road, Harbanspura, Sanda, Islampura, and surroundings. Electricity supply was also affected in many areas of Lahore during the rain.
Apart from Lahore, many cities of Punjab including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Muridke, Gujranwala, Attock, and Wazirabad also received light and heavy rains, which turned the weather pleasant. After the heavy rains, the roads started to look like rivers and canals.
On the other hand, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned of high flash flooding in the Narowal and Sialkot districts of Punjab during the next three days due to rain. Rains in the upper reaches of Jammu may cause flooding in the Narowal and Sialkot rivers.
According to the NDMA, there is a risk of severe flooding in Nala Ek, Dayak, and Pulkhu, which will inundate adjacent areas. Flash flooding may disrupt transportation, and damage buildings, crops, and livestock.
According to the NDMA alert, the provincial disaster management authorities and the local administration have been instructed to be alert and to take appropriate measures to protect the people from damage.
