Order to upgrade Islamabad police stations to smart-style
Interior Minister added that well-mannered and qualified police officers will be posted in smart police stations
Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Saturday ordered to upgrade the police stations of Islamabad in the style of smart police stations.
Mohsin Naqvi presided over a review meeting on the progress of police stations in Islamabad, in which he ordered to upgrade the police stations of the federal capital on smart pattern.
He said that the traditional police stations have become a symbol of fear. People think many times before coming to police stations. ‘I have visited the police stations, and the condition I saw is indescribable’.
“Islamabad is the face of Pakistan. To build a quality city, we have to go towards smart policing without delay, we will give all possible resources for smart police stations,” stated Naqvi.
The Federal Interior Minister added that well-mannered and qualified police officers will be posted in smart police stations. Under a phased program, police stations will be upgraded and converted into smart style.
Mohsin Naqvi, while directing the early implementation of the project, further said that a standard design should be prepared at a low cost for the upgradation. He also directed to identify the land for the police stations established in other buildings.
The federal minister continued to say that there will be no compromise on merit for recruitment in Islamabad Police. Youths who are fit, educated, and meet the merit in all respects will be recruited. A positive change in the attitude of the police towards civilians is also necessary.
Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mohammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations, and senior officials attended the meeting on this occasion.
