More than 4,000 Pakistanis arrested in Iran for illegally crossing border


Islamabad: The Pakistani government has started the process of blocking the passports of more than 10,000 Pakistani citizens involved in various crimes in Iran.
According to the media reports, the Ministry of Interior said that the passports of 10,050 Pakistanis involved in various crimes in Iran have been blocked.
The media reports stated that the Ministry of Interior said that Pakistani citizens have been arrested for human trafficking, illegal residence, drugs, extremism, and other crimes, while Iran has deported more than 5,000 Pakistanis in the last 1.5 years.
It is also reported that more than 4,000 Pakistanis have been arrested in Iran for illegally crossing the border, while legal action has been initiated against the Pakistani citizens involved in the crimes.
The reports suggest that the passports of Pakistanis involved in the crimes have been blocked for five and seven years.
It is pertinent to note that the federal government has decided to block the passports of Pakistani citizens involved in crimes, as a result of which the passports of 2,470 Pakistanis involved in drug crimes in the UAE were blocked a few days ago.
In November, the Pakistani government started blocking the passports of 1,500 Pakistanis deported from Iraq. Initially, it was decided to block the passports of 50 Pakistanis for seven years.
According to reports, the Ministry of Interior said that more than 1,500 Pakistani citizens have been deported from Iraq in the last six months, whose passports will be blocked.
In October, the Pakistani government blocked the passports of 4,000 Pakistanis imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi government had arrested these 4,000 Pakistani citizens for begging and other crimes.
The passports of these Pakistani citizens have been blocked for seven years. More than 60 percent of the citizens arrested in Saudi Arabia belong to the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
