Strong Monsoon spell: Heavy rain in Karachi turns weather pleasant
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the city today
Karachi: Due to the heavy spell of monsoon, heavy rain in Karachi submerged many areas.
The highest rainfall was 46mm recorded in Gulshan Hadid. Gulistan Johar, Jail Chowrangi, Liaquatabad, Karimabad, Safora, and various areas of Scheme 33 received heavy rainfall. 26mm of rain in Nazimabad and 25mm in Sarjani Town has been recorded.
According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the city today.
According to weather forecasters, there is a possibility of intermittent heavy rain in Karachi till August 31 under the rain system. Weak roofs and walls may collapse due to strong winds and rains.
The Meteorological Department has declared billboards, electricity poles and solar panels as dangerous, and fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea unnecessarily.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said that this spell may be the most powerful spell of monsoon. 150 to 200mm of rain is expected in Karachi from this spell.
Sardar Sarfaraz further said that 250 to 300mm of rain is expected in Thatta, Sajawal, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and Nawabshah. While 500mm of rain is expected in Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, and Umarkot, which will inundate the low-lying areas.
On the other hand, the minimum temperature of the city today is 25.5 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature is expected to increase from 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, but the humidity ratio in the air has been recorded at 88 percent.
