‘Tropical Depression Claudette’: Ten including nine children killed on rain-drenched highway
Alabama: At least ten people including nine children were killed when a van and other vehicles crashed together on a rain-drenched Alabama highway during Tropical Storm Claudette on Sunday.

As per details, Tropical Depression Claudette has caused flash flooding and tornadoes in Alabama, destroying dozens of homes in the state.
The horrific accident involved 18 vehicles in the storm-hit US state. The deceased children’s age ranged from nine months to 17 years old.
Reportedly, a father and nine-month old girl died in one of the cars. While, the other eight victims were in a bus belonging to a foster home for abandoned, neglected or abused girls.
After the devastating accident, a bystander pulled the bus driver to safety and tried to rescue the children, however the bus was already engulfed in smoke and flames.
Meanwhile, five other people sustained injuries in the crash, but none of their injuries were critical.
Pictures from the scene show many burnt-out vehicles of all sizes, on the road and in the central reservation.
Earlier on June 19, a 24-year old man and toddler boy were also killed when a tree fell on their house, just outside the city of Tuscaloosa.
A search is also underway for a man in Birmingham, Alabama who may have been swept away in flood waters.
The storm was downgraded to a tropical depression, but forecasters warned heavy rain was likely to continue into Sunday.
